- EDELWEISS
- The
extract used in Hormeta's Edelweiss and lipo
carrot protective day cream is made with the
leaves and flowers. The plants used are
cultivated in high mountains area, in a clean
and pesticide Swiss free environment. An
exclusivity contract has been established with a
horticulturist. The plants harvested are thus of
high and controlled quality.

extraction is made by special process limiting a
maximum the damage of the active principles of
the plant.

- Biological
activities:
- Due
to its content in mucilages, the Edelweiss has
emollient and soothing properties. The presence
of chlorogenic acid derives from phenylpyruvic
acid by biosynthesis, and the phenylpyruvic
nucleus is known to highly absorb UV rays.
Moreover, its high concentration in flavonoids,
besides a complementary sun screening activity,
gives strong antioxydant properties to it. As it
is rich in phenolic components, the edelweiss
can resist the action of high altitude UV rays,
phenolic acids mainly absorbing UVB, and
flavonoids UVA rays.
